According to Vastu the ideal location for a kitchen is south east the direction of the god of fire.
If this is not possible then north west is an alternative.
Cooking should be done facing eastwards. And the ideal place is of the stove is the south east. The water area should be north west of the stove.
Waste water should depart the kitchen in the north east.
